How Get Branded Today Scammed Lexi’s Cleaning Services with Fake SEO Promises

A friend of mine, running Lexi’s List Cleaning Services, paid $8,000 to an agency called Get Branded Today. A year later, this husband-and-wife team gave up on their dream and took regular jobs because their business saw no SEO benefits.

A quick Google search exposes the truth: Get Branded Today has no branding, no real SEO expertise, and, according to Ahrefs, ranks for just six keywords with two visits a month.

The Current SEO Status of Lexi’s List Cleaning Services

There’s no real SEO happening here. Yet these so-called SEO experts claim that if the client leaves, their entire strategy will collapse like a house of cards. Somehow, they still call the results amazing.

No phone calls. No Google Maps rankings. It’s no wonder they’re scratching their heads, wondering why no business is coming in.

In SEO, links are like votes. When other websites link to yours, they boost your site’s authority. But are the links pointing to Lexi’s Cleaning Services relevant to their city or services? Or are they just low-quality, spammy links?

Lexi’s List Cleaning Services’ site has a domain rating of zero

The site’s domain rating is zero. None of these seven links have any real power, they’re all spam.

Most of them are generic directory links anyone can create, like Yellow Pages. They don’t drive traffic, bring in keywords, or add any real value.

Despite claiming to focus on high-quality backlinks, they’ve only invested a few dollars in these useless links.

Sure, they rank for a low-difficulty keyword like “cleaning service, Bristol,” but it brings no traffic. They’ve dropped from position 6 to completely losing their ranking. Now, they’re stuck at positions 16, 18, and 21,

Ranking for a keyword like “upholstery cleaning service, Plainfield, Illinois” at position 44 doesn’t matter. Keyword difficulty is irrelevant without strong signals.

As a small business owner, you might be told, “Give it three more months. The SEO is doing great, just a little more time.” Meanwhile, they hope you’ll keep paying, squeezing as much as possible out of you until you walk away.

The reality is, the site lacks meaningful content, and Google has no reason to rank it.

Take a look at their service page for Naperville. Upon review, it appears to be filled with AI-generated content. If they’re offering cleaning services in Naperville, why should anyone choose Lexi’s List Cleaning Services? There are no proof points, no videos, photos, stories, or testimonials. They don’t mention being in business for 17 years or that it’s a husband-and-wife team.

This page lacks authority and fails to establish EEAT. AI tools can create content like this, but there’s no proof behind it. There’s nothing showing they actually provide services in Naperville. Without relevant, local, and specific content, it’s no surprise the page ranks poorly.

Let’s take a closer look at Get Branded Today, an internet marketing agency. When you visit a company’s “About” page, you expect to learn about the business, how they operate, what they do, and who’s behind it. You want to see the founder, key team members, and staff in various roles. But what do we find here? Nothing. No faces.

What does it say when a company doesn’t even show who’s behind the scenes? It raises questions about their credibility. While we may not know everyone, we do know one thing for sure, the people behind this operation.

It seems that Dev Sharma is the person behind it. I searched for him online, but the only result was a different Dev Sharma in the AI field, with no connection to Get Branded Today.

The website has no branding, yet they boast a domain rating of 47. Sounds impressive, right? They’ve gathered plenty of link juice. But here’s the problem, they don’t rank for anything.

Let’s look at their backlinks. One comes from “1H Auto Glass,” a site designed and marketed by Get Branded Today. That’s a site-wide link.

What they’re doing is called parasite linking, and it’s a huge mistake. Anyone who builds websites knows you don’t steal link juice from other sites. But that’s exactly what they’re doing, taking over other people’s websites, siphoning their link power, and calling it SEO.

Clients of Get Branded Today should actually be paying them for SEO because the only thing they’re really getting is the link juice from sites they’ve hijacked.

Google recently made it clear, these site-wide footer links no longer work. To make matters worse, Get Branded Today’s website is built on Wix. Any legitimate web developer will tell you not to use Wix if you’re serious about SEO.

It’s like claiming to be a professional Formula 1 driver while riding in a Fisher-Price car. I can’t take that seriously.

But here’s the kicker: they’re out there advertising these same clients to everyone on the internet. Look at these clients, Foggios Plumbing, Sam Plumbing, and others. These clients are showing the world they have no idea what they’re doing. Honestly, it’s clear they’re being taken for a ride. These clients are barely ranking for anything.

They claim to be building links, but they barely rank for anything. The volume is practically nonexistent. It’s like a 400-pound person claiming they’re not obese, and when I step on the scale, they want to argue.

Get Branded Today has no branding of its own. No EEAT. They claim to do SEO, claim to handle everything digital website SEO, social media, but where’s the proof? Where are the social media accounts? Where are the video testimonials? Where are the results they’re actually driving?

Next time you think about hiring someone for SEO, treat it like hiring a fitness coach. Before you sign the dotted line, look at how “fit” they are themselves. Are they walking the walk or just talking the talk?

Search “Dennis Yu New Era of SEO” and take the time to watch this video, where I dive into the fundamentals with Danny Leibrandt, a pest control SEO expert. Many salespeople don’t understand the core of SEO, they’re just selling a dream. As a mechanic, I know when someone’s trying to pull the wool over my eyes.

What happens next? They get a promise: “Just a few more months, we’ll get it right.” Then, when the client wants to cancel, they’re suddenly offered more free months of work. Don’t fall for it.

Take control of your marketing, even if you don’t know all the technical SEO details. It’s your business, your results, and you should hold people accountable. SEO takes time, yes, but you should see progress along the way.

I’m doing this because it’s the right thing to do. Hundreds of thousands of small businesses are getting taken for a ride.

As an update, my good friend David Scott of Scott Growth Strategies has offered to help should this or any other dishonest agency threaten us with legal action. I appreciate him tremendously for this.
