How I Built a Two-Sided Network to Replace the Broken Agency Model

Most companies understand a one-sided network where they just provide services and get paid. But I built something different. I built a two-sided network with demand on one side and supply on the other, and it changes everything about how local service businesses grow.

Who I serve

My ideal client is a local service business in a Google Local Service Ads category. Dentists, plumbers, roofers, electricians, HVAC companies. I focus on these because they sell high-ticket services. A restaurant sells a $30 meal. These businesses sell $2,000 to $14,000 jobs. That makes everything repeatable and scalable.

There are tens of thousands of the same type of business in every city. If I can do it for one dentist, I can do it for many. Same template, same process, same results.

The emergency room model

When a local service business comes to me, I treat it like an emergency room. They came in on their own because something is broken. I didn’t knock on their door. They’re in pain.

I get their metrics. I analyze what’s broken and what’s causing the pain. Then I build a treatment plan. Metrics, analysis, action. That’s the core of everything I do.

The supply side – AI Apprentices

On the other side of the network, I have young adults training to become certified digital marketers. Before they qualify, they have to demonstrate two things. First, they repurpose a video to show they understand the content. Second, they make a one-minute video themselves to prove they can communicate, show empathy, and demonstrate real human skills that AI cannot replicate.

In a world where 99% of job applications are AI-generated nonsense, I need to see that these people are real and can think. My qualifying process is designed to filter for thinking ability, not just technical skill.

Parents often pay for the program, similar to paying for college or tutoring. If someone is paying, I provide extra support to help them qualify. If they’re self-qualifying without paying, they go through the same program and standards but without the additional hand-holding.

The Social Amplification Engine

The system I’ve built is a six-phase process I call the Social Amplification Engine. It has three main components. Digital plumbing on one side, the Content Factory in the middle, and ongoing optimization on the other.

Digital plumbing is all the tracking, conversions, pixels, and data infrastructure. Without it, you have no idea what’s working. You can’t optimize what you can’t measure. Every business owner I’ve worked with says digital plumbing is the most powerful thing I teach. They wonder why other businesses don’t get their plumbing set up first.

The content Factory is my repeatable process of creating and distributing content that drives results. Ongoing optimization is weekly MAA, metrics analysis action. Each week there’s an update that serves as a heartbeat to confirm action is being taken.

Multiple shots on goal

The beauty of this system is that you get multiple shots on goal. You could be blind and terrible at basketball, but if I let you shoot hundreds of free throws, you’re going to make one. That’s why weekly MAA iterations work. It’s the most risk-free, risk-eliminating system out there.

The number one mistake I see is people pasting in metrics but not actually thinking. The analysis is missing. I have training for every problem I encounter along the way so I can overcome it systematically.

Why the agency model is dead

The traditional agency model is the waiter and the cook, the salesperson and the mechanic. AI has ruined that model. The networks themselves, Google and Facebook, are automating away the people in the middle so they can capture ad dollars directly from business owners.

Agency people are middlemen by definition. They’re not efficient, they waste money, they overcharge, and there’s no certification. The top agency guys have already sold out because they don’t want to be left holding the bag.

Most agencies are just salespeople who sub out work to white-label companies charging $100 per month per client. The results are terrible but the software sends out weekly reports that make everything look great. I’ve audited hundreds of these and it’s the same story almost every single time.

Why certification matters

If you’re a roofer, you have to be licensed. If you’re a dentist, you went to school for years. If you’re a real estate agent, you worked under someone experienced before going on your own. But the person doing your digital marketing? No certification. No standards. No accountability.
