Alright, without anymore delay – here’s the follow up strategy that can re-ignite any cold outreach conversation you have.

Follow Up Strategy Breakdown

I tried a new follow-up message and it worked very well…

It’s a total of 21 words.

It works on any platform that you are doing cold outreach on.

And no! It’s NOT any of the following:

“Hey John, did you see the video I sent.”

“Hey John, just making sure that you saw this.”

“What’s up John can I give you some more info over a quick call.”

These all go against the methodology of a GOOD cold outreach follow-up.

  1. No value.
  2. Annoying
  3. Like everyone else

So, how can you curate a follow-up that will work through every platform and you can count on working?

Well, the key is to focus on these three points.Screenshot 2024 03 24 at 1.52.23 PM.png

1. Relevant: This follow-up strategy is only going to work if you already have a good lead list and reaching out to the right people at the companies.

2. Direct: Nobody has attention spans anymore. You have precisely 0 seconds to waste when someone is looking at your email. GET TO THE POINT.

3. Value-based: this is the part that most of you will mess up.

Why will you mess it up?

Because your definition of true “value” is skewed.

Value is NOT some random case study document that you want them to look at.

Value is NOT some intangible piece of information that doesn’t have actionable advice to the prospect.

Value is supposed to be interesting and actionable.

It’s supposed to be something that actually helps these people.

And that’s where it gets a little tricky – for you to help someone and provide genuine value to them, you have to ACTUALLY be good at what you do.

Here are some examples of genuine value you can use in your follow ups (if the other 2 factors are met):

– custom cold calling script

– custom lead list

– free ad designs

– free email designs

– free UGC video

Notice something?

These are things that these people can literally use right away and NOBODY else is offering.

Here is the message that I started sending for my offer (only to qualified companies):

“Hey John, can I send you 100 free leads for you to see who we can get you on sales calls using cold email?”

Now this may seem like it’s VERY simple. And it is.

The best part, it has worked with not only cold email, but also through DMs on LinkedIn and Twitter.

Examples of the follow up strategy working

An example of it working on LinkedIn. This prospect ghosted us on THREE previous follow-ups, but this one got him engaged again.Screenshot 2024 03 24 at 2.15.27 PM

Another one from LinkedIn. This one made him follow up with us because he wanted to see the lead list THAT MUCH.Screenshot 2024 03 24 at 2.16.04 PM

This is how it works over email:Screenshot 2024 03 24 at 2.32.44 PM

How we responded to that lead:Screenshot 2024 03 24 at 2.32.55 PM

From there, the lead either:

  1. book in a call themselves
  2. ask for a specific time to talk
  3. ask for more context about the lead list/service

The problem with this follow up strategy

As you can see, the power of a well-curated follow-up is limitless.

It can turn leads that have fallen off a few months ago back into engaged leads looking to learn more about your offer.

BUT – there are two caveats!

This strategy takes more effort than just following up with “Did you see this message?”

AND – you actually have to give them a solid resource once they agree to it.

Hopefully this resources gives you some ideas that you can use to bring back some leads to life with a value-based follow up and close some deals.
