So you’re thinking about joining a digital marketing team, but you’re not sure what that actually means day to day. What’s the job? How much do you get paid? What skills do you need? And is this a real career or just some influencer hype?

Let me break it all down.
How the business works
We serve local service businesses. Think dentists, roofers, landscapers, real estate agents, orthopedic surgeons, lawyers. Every one of them is trying to win in their city, and our job is to make them Googleable.

We’re not calling it SEO because that sounds like trickery. What we actually do is make sure that when someone types in a business owner’s name or their service plus their city, they show up. Knowledge panels, YouTube videos, social profiles, the whole thing. We make the phone ring more for these businesses, and we guarantee results. No contracts. Everything is one-time or month to month. If we don’t deliver, we don’t keep the client. Performance matters.
To understand this better, look at the videos we’ve made explaining to clients what we do. When you see where we create value for them, your next question becomes a lot simpler: “What do I need to do to be part of this?”
What you actually need to do
Here’s the good news. You don’t need to know WordPress. You don’t need to be a programmer. You don’t need years of experience.
What you need to demonstrate is that you can repurpose content. That means taking a long-form video, like a 20-minute video, and turning it into an article, a YouTube Short, an Instagram Reel, a Facebook post, a LinkedIn post. That’s repurposing. If you can take one piece of content and turn it into multiple pieces, that shows you can do it for a client.
Think of it like basketball. Before you start dreaming about fancy plays, show me you can dribble and shoot a free throw. If you air ball 10 in a row, the NBA probably isn’t calling. Same idea here.

We have a ton of free training on all of this. But here’s the thing. If you come to us asking “How do I log into Descript?” or “What does repurposing mean?” that tells us you don’t know how to use Google, and you’re probably not the right fit. We’re looking for people who can figure basic things out, work inside a team, and ask smart questions that show they’re engaged.
The career path
If you can meet level one standards, here’s how the path works.
Level one starts at $17 an hour in the United States. Some people move straight to level two at $25 an hour. Some people make it to six figures. How long does that take? It depends entirely on you. It’s not based on how many months you’ve spent in a position. It’s based on the quality of your work and your ability to qualify at each level.
Check out our specialist guide, which shows you all six levels and what it takes to qualify at each step. It’s very fair.
At level one, you start with one core skill: repurposing videos and articles. Then you learn ads. Then basic project management so you can work in a team, manage other team members, and send out weekly client reports every Friday. Then you move up to team lead, where you’re managing people. Then to manager, where you can hire and fire.
The cool thing about ChatGPT and Gemini is that they’ve made us all managers in a way. You don’t have to learn the deep technical skills of programming anymore. The principles of digital marketing haven’t changed, and they’re all documented in our guides, but now AI tools let you create a much greater impact for those dentists and roofers and landscapers without getting buried in technical work.

We’ve seen friends and team members build a base of five or six clients, make a great living, take care of their families, go on vacation, and live a life they never thought was possible. Some go on to start their own agencies. Some are happy at $80,000 a year. There’s a path for everyone.
Real people who’ve done it
Brennan Agranoff started with us when he was around 15. Google him. He’s now making millions of dollars a year.

Dylan Haugen is 17. He was basically a professional basketball player, and now he’s built a career in social media marketing, YouTube, and podcasting.

Daniel Goodrich started as a junior at Brigham Young University. Didn’t know anything about digital marketing but was good at math and very organized. Started at level one and has made it all the way to level five. He’s doing really well.

Think about what the path might be for you.
Why we’re different
Everything we do is documented and published. We’ve worked with Nike, Red Bull, Adidas, the Golden State Warriors, Ashley Furniture, Quiznos. We’ve published training with Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, GoDaddy, Infusionsoft, and HubSpot.

We’ve partnered with universities like Johns Hopkins, University of Sunshine Coast, Hofstra, and University of Louisville.

Do you know anyone else in digital marketing who has gone to that length to openly teach everything they know?
We do it because we follow something called “learn do teach.” As you succeed with clients, you publish what you’ve learned, and then you mentor the next person. It’s an apprenticeship model. You put your own oxygen mask on first, then you help others.
Who this is for (and who it’s not for)
This is for you if you’re an A player who likes being challenged by being around the best. If you want to live a great life and be known as someone who does excellent work, solves problems, and can be counted on.
This is not for you if you’re scared of critical feedback. It’s not for you if you just want a paycheck every Friday. It’s not for you if you want everything spoon-fed from 9 to 5.
How to apply
Take any video from our YouTube channel from the last week that’s 20 minutes or more.
Turn it into an article following our article guidelines. Google “BlitzMetrics article standards” to find them. Grade the article yourself. Then submit it along with your self-evaluation to hiring@blitzmetrics.com.
If you don’t grade it yourself, you’re disqualified. If you completely miss the article guidelines, you’re disqualified. But if you can pass, you probably already have a job.
We need to hire thousands of people because there are a million local service businesses that need our help. I’m Dennis Yu, and I hope you’ll join us. AI is going to change all of this, and I hope you can be part of it too.
