Jacob Hopson opened Flow Bros Plumbing in Arlington, TX about five months ago and already has nearly 100 five-star Google reviews — then asked us to get more calls flowing. This Flow Bros Plumbing SEO audit found the gap: the reputation is real, but the website and backlinks aren’t carrying it. Here is what we found and what we’d do next.
Getting to nearly 100 five-star reviews in a few months is hard, especially against established local competitors — it tells us Jacob and his team do great plumbing work. That reputation is the biggest asset, and most of the job is transferring it from Google to the website.
Read The SEO Starting Line
Flow Bros’ SEO is essentially non-existent today: a domain rating of 0 and only 6 backlinks. SEO power flows mainly through backlinks — when a site with authority links to Flow Bros in a relevant way, that authority starts to pass through.
Right now most existing links aren’t relevant to a plumbing business in Arlington, so Google doesn’t credit them. It shows in the rankings: the site ranks for a single keyword, and that keyword sits on page three.
| Signal | What we observed | What it costs in calls |
|---|---|---|
| Domain rating | 0 | No authority to rank organically yet |
| Backlinks | 6, mostly irrelevant | Google credits almost none |
| Organic keywords | 1 keyword, on page 3 | Virtually no organic calls |
| Google reviews | ~100 five-star | Strong trust, not yet on the site |
Check a new client’s domain rating and backlink count, then read what those links actually are. A DR of 0 with a handful of off-topic links means the website has no organic authority — so the first calls have to come from the Google Business Profile and ads, not search rankings.
Map The Google Business Profile Reach
The Google Business Profile is the biggest asset and where Flow Bros already gets the most calls. Recent five-star reviews matter for organic growth because they prove to Google the business is legitimate, active, and doing good work in Arlington.
A LocalFalcon scan for “plumber” within 8 miles of the profile shows the pattern clearly: Flow Bros ranks number one within 1–2 miles of its location, but drops to #11 up by downtown Arlington. As recent reviews and SEO improve, that ranking radius expands — and since the profile already drives the most calls, every bit of added visibility is worth pursuing.
Run a LocalFalcon grid for the client’s main term within 8 miles of their pin. Where they rank #1 within 1–2 miles but fall to double digits at the edge, you can show the owner exactly which neighborhoods they’re losing — and tie review velocity directly to expanding that green zone.
Rebuild The Website As A Local Service Site
We rarely recommend rebuilding a website, but Flow Bros needs it. The current site is built like an ecommerce store — complete with an “add to cart” button in the top right — when it should mirror a local service business template.
The home page should make the Arlington, TX service area immediately clear and put the phone number prominently in the top right. From there, add two page types: service pages for everything Flow Bros does (water heaters, clogged drains) and local service pages for the surrounding areas like Hurst, so a search for “plumbing hurst tx” can surface the business. One strength to keep — Flow Bros uses real photos of their own crew and work, which Google rewards over stock art, and it all feeds Google’s E-E-A-T standards.
Get Calls Flowing With Ads Now
All digital marketing is amplification of what already works, and Flow Bros’ Google Business Profile is what works. Because Local Service Ads and the profile are tied together, LSA is the first lever — we raised the budget and added images to the account to start ranking higher.
Light Google PPC captures the rest of the top-of-funnel demand from people already searching for plumbing in Arlington. For mid-funnel, light dollar-a-day Facebook promotion across Arlington and nearby areas — including retargeting site visitors — keeps Flow Bros in front of people who aren’t ready to call yet.
Next steps: Install CallRail to measure call volume across every organic and paid source. While the team rebuilds the website to standard, run LSA, light Google PPC, and very light Facebook ads to find winners. The reputation is already there — the work is amplifying it. See the full method in the Quick Audit process.
Run a plumbing or local service business with great reviews but a quiet phone? We will find the gap and hand you the fix order.
