SF SBDC Workshop Series: Live Website Audits with Dennis Yu (2021-2025)

Since 2021, Dennis Yu has partnered with the San Francisco Small Business Development Center (SF SBDC) for a recurring workshop series that has helped dozens of small business owners fix their websites in real time. The series, originally titled “Let’s Fix Your Website” and later rebranded to “Fix Your Digital Marketing,” runs as live Zoom sessions where Dennis audits four to five small businesses per session, walking each owner through exactly what is broken and how to fix it.

How the Workshops Work

Each session follows a consistent format. Business owners register through the SF SBDC’s event page, and Dennis opens their website live on screen during the call. He runs through a quick audit process that covers Google Business Profile accuracy, website speed and mobile responsiveness, keyword rankings, review signals, and content quality. The entire audit takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes per business, giving attendees both a personalized review and a chance to learn from watching other businesses get analyzed.

The workshops consistently draw 30 to 50 registrants per session and have run at least 15 times across the four-year span. At an estimated four to five businesses audited per workshop, the series has produced somewhere between 60 and 75 individual business audits, most of which have never been published as standalone articles.

Published Workshop Videos on YouTube

Three full workshop recordings are currently available on the BlitzMetrics YouTube channel:

Small Business, Big Problems? Let’s Fix Your Website! (Workshop 2: Live Audits) — 1 hour 32 minutes. Dennis audits multiple local businesses, identifying issues with their Google Business Profiles, website structure, and keyword targeting.

Struggling with Your Local Business? Let’s Fix Your Website! (Workshop 2: Audits) — 1 hour 28 minutes. A second session from the same workshop series covering different businesses with similar audit methodology.

Let’s Unlock Your Website Potential Through Live Audits (Workshop 6: Audits) — 1 hour 14 minutes. A later workshop session that shows the evolution of Dennis’s audit approach over time.

Workshop Recordings in the Archive

Beyond what has been published to YouTube, the BlitzMetrics team maintains a Google Drive archive of nine full workshop recordings from 2022. These sessions were uploaded by the content team in March 2023 and include recordings from February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, and November of 2022. File sizes range from 522 MB to 2.31 GB per session, indicating full unedited Zoom recordings. Each of these sessions contains four to five individual business audits that have not yet been timestamped, transcribed, or published.

Workshop Timeline

The workshop series launched in August 2021 as a partnership between Dennis Yu and the SF SBDC team, including coordinators who handled logistics. Sessions ran monthly through late 2022, paused through most of 2023, then resumed in January 2024 under the updated “Fix Your Digital Marketing” branding. The 2024 and 2025 sessions expanded to include broader digital marketing topics beyond just website audits, and some shifted from virtual Zoom calls to in-person events at the San Francisco Main Library.

Common Issues Found Across Workshop Audits

After auditing 60 or more small businesses through the SF SBDC series, certain patterns emerge consistently. Most businesses have incomplete or unverified Google Business Profiles, missing or inconsistent NAP (Name, Address, Phone) data across directories, and websites running on outdated platforms or themes that load slowly on mobile. Very few have any structured content strategy, and almost none have earned backlinks from local organizations, chambers of commerce, or business directories. The quick audit framework Dennis uses in these sessions is the same process documented on the BlitzMetrics website, making these workshops both educational and practical.

What Comes Next for the SBDC Series

The BlitzMetrics team is working through the archived recordings to identify and timestamp each individual business audit. Once catalogued, each audit will become its own standalone article on BlitzMetrics with the embedded video segment, specific findings, and recommendations. These will all link back to the master audit list and the quick audit page. If your business was featured in one of these workshops, reach out to the team at BlitzMetrics so the write-up can be prioritized.
