EcomBalance, owned by Nathan Hirsch, offers monthly bookkeeping services for growing e-commerce businesses selling on Amazon, Shopify, Walmart, eBay, and many more.
They rank on 6729 keywords.
They have a lot of accounting and bookkeeping keywords.
I always look at the brand search volume as a sign of whether they’re really getting traction because many of these terms have low keyword difficulty. Actually, this is not a bad thing.
Whenever I see the orange line surpass the blue line like this, it means their content is high quality instead of just pumping out garbage. These are natural links they’re getting.
EcomBalance is getting citations from pages that rank on many keywords and the ones with high domain ratings, which is a great sign. For example, one of the pages has a DR 91 and 36 keywords.
This is white hat SEO, which is the way SEO should be done. But I don’t even call it SEO. It’s sharing your knowledge on websites with related people, like the partner directory, encouraging more people to share their expertise and cross-referrals.
Let’s look at EcomBalance’s competitor
Finaloop doesn’t rank on anything despite having a DR36 and 700 backlinks. When someone has a good DR and ranks on no keywords, it usually means they’ve been penalized by Google for something shady.
Even if they’re giving Google money, some might say that’s why Google is pushing them to spend more on ads. They think Google will turn down their SEO. I don’t believe that’s true.
They have some spammy things going on. Most of their citation pages have zero traffic and no-follow links. They’re losing all their links.
I always love looking at these folks. Anyone who claims they do SEO, I can quickly see who they are. For example, anyone can Google Nathan Hirsch and see what comes up.
What I want to see is a knowledge panel triggered. I think Nathan will be better known for EcomBalance. But if we search “Outsource School,” there’s no knowledge panel showing up yet. However, Nathan is so close to getting a knowledge panel, as most of his entities are shown when we search his name.
I can also use ChatGPT to find out what Nathan can be best known for.
Before I interview people, I ask these questions. I use ChatGPT as my assistant for research, and we’ll just have a talk. I’ll go walking and have a voice conversation with it.
See, ChatGPT already knows who Nathan is. Is that SEO? No. It’s because Nathan has done the work, been on many podcasts, and been written up. Google knows about it, and therefore ChatGPT knows about it.
