How to Grant Access to Your Google Search Console

Google Search Console (GSC) lets us see how your website is performing in Google search — which keywords you’re ranking for, which pages get the most clicks, and any technical issues that might be holding you back. Granting us access allows our team to monitor and improve your search visibility without needing your login credentials.

Estimated Time to Complete: 2 to 3 minutes

What You’ll Need

  • A Google account that has Owner access to the Search Console property for your website
  • Our team email: access@yourcontentfactory.com
  • A desktop browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Edge)

Steps

  1. Go to Google Search Console. Open https://search.google.com/search-console and sign in with the Google account that owns your website property.
  2. Select the correct property. In the top-left dropdown, make sure you’ve selected the property for the website you want us to manage. If you have both a Domain property and a URL-prefix property, the Domain property is preferred since it covers all subdomains and protocols.
  3. Open Settings. In the left sidebar, scroll down and click Settings (the gear icon near the bottom).
  4. Go to Users and Permissions. On the Settings page, click Users and permissions.
  5. Add a new user. Click the blue Add user button in the top-right corner.
  6. Enter our email and set permission level. In the dialog that appears:
    • Enter: access@yourcontentfactory.com
    • Set the permission to: Full

“Full” permission allows us to view all data and manage settings, but does not give us the ability to remove you as an owner.

  7. Click Add. You’re done! Our team will receive a notification and can begin working on your search performance right away.

Permission Levels Explained

Full — Can view all data, submit sitemaps, request indexing, and manage some settings. This is what we need.

Restricted — Can only view most data. Not sufficient for us to do our job effectively.

Owner — Full control including adding/removing users. You should keep this for yourself; we do not need Owner access.

Troubleshooting

I don’t see my website in Search Console. Your website may not be verified yet. Contact us and we can help you get it set up — see our guide on How to Set Up Google Search Console for a Client Website.

I don’t see the Settings option. You may have Restricted access instead of Owner access. Ask whoever originally set up the property to either grant you Owner access or add our email directly.

This is one part of our Access Checklist. Visit blitzmetrics.com/acl to see all the accounts we need access to and complete the rest of the checklist.
