Be The Change You Want To See In The World.

The following is a guest post by Shawn Dill and Josh Nelson, adapted from the Seven Figure Agency Podcast.

One of the things that we live by is that you cannot give what you don’t have.  To be the change you want to see in the world, you need to have something yourself first.

There’s no amount of poverty that will make somebody else rich.  You can’t be poor so that someone else can be rich, and you can’t be sick so someone else can be healthy. In this COVID-19 world that we live in, you can’t be sad so that someone else can be happy.

Number two, I know that this is probably why you do this work – you service your community so selflessly and you’re constantly giving – but sometimes you need another voice to come in and maybe inspire someone.

Rosa Parks was a simple seamstress.

I am always super motivated by Rosa Parks, who was a simple seamstress.  (I understand all of the conspiracy theories that say maybe she wasn’t – but at the end of the day, the story is that she was a simple seamstress.)

There were powerful people like Martin Luther King and there were civil rights leaders, but she wasn’t one of them.  They were the Dennis Yu’s of that time, but they actually couldn’t shift the needle until a regular person decided to wake up one day and make the stamp.

Maybe that’s Tristan Parmley, but what I want to say with all due respect is that it’s not Josh Nelson, and it’s not me.

Tristan Parmley, who is creating the change he wants to see in the world.

It’s not the people that you get to see on the screen.  It’s you.

I just hope that by reading this, somewhere, someone says, you know what? It is me.

Like Rosa Parks, you can make that shift.

One of the things that was really crazy is that when Rosa Parks went in and sat down, the bus driver called her by name. What that means is that she had been on that bus hundreds of times before and went to the back, but there was something about that day that Rosa Parks made a shift and she just decided not to listen.

If you’re walking around the world, your life has been impacted by that one decision that she made.  Your life is different today because of something she did.  The amazing part is, you could also make that shift.

You can be the change you want to see in the world.  You can find your lighthouse. You can educate, you can inform, and you can grow your business. Maybe you’re going to have an eight-figure agency — we’re talking deca-millionaires. So much is possible because the whole environment and the whole mindset can shift because of one person’s actions.

And again, this wasn’t Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, or any of the civil rights leaders.  It’s not Josh, and it’s not Dennis.

It’s you who’s reading this.

If you’re reading this and you’re feeling that call – like 2021 is your year – step out and start applying the things that we have been teaching you and decide to go for it, because, look, you can change the world.

I know that some people might be thinking, how can I change the world?  Can I really do it?  You absolutely can. You just have to be willing to step out.
