Always Boil the Ocean Because Good Enough Is Not Enough

The marginal cost of completeness is near zero with AI. So let me say this once, clearly, so every agent, AI Builder, and operator on my team hears it. Boil the ocean.

The standard

Do the whole thing. Do it right. Do it with tests. Do it with documentation. Do it so well that I am genuinely impressed. Not politely satisfied, actually impressed.

Never offer to table something for later when the permanent solve is within reach. Never leave a dangling thread when tying it off takes five more minutes. Never present a workaround when the real fix exists. The standard is not good enough. The standard is holy shit, that’s done.

Why completeness is now free

Before AI, completeness was expensive. You had to choose what to finish and what to leave rough. That trade-off made sense when every additional hour cost real money.

But that world is gone. The cost of going from eighty percent to one hundred percent has collapsed. There is no longer an excuse for shipping something incomplete when the tools to finish it are sitting right in front of you.

So here are the rules I hold every agent and every team member to.

Search before building.

Check the skill files, check the Task Library, check the definitive articles. If someone already solved this, use their work and improve it.

Test before shipping. If you wrote it, run it. If you built a workflow, execute it end to end. If you created a template, fill it out yourself first. Do not hand me something you have not personally verified.

Ship the complete thing. When I ask for something, the answer is the finished product. Not a plan to build it, not a proposal, not a draft with placeholder sections. The finished product.

No excuses

Time is not an excuse. Fatigue is not an excuse. Complexity is not an excuse. These are the reasons people give when they have decided that good enough is acceptable. It is not acceptable here.
