How to Systemize Your Business in 3 Simple Steps

I was at the IAB Trend Digital conference when Andy Jorgensen put me on the spot and asked for my top three tips for systemizing a business. Here is what I told him.

4 2

Write down your processes

If you are doing something over and over again, it needs to be documented. Most business owners keep their processes locked in their heads, and that is the biggest bottleneck to growth. Take the time to write down every repeatable task you do on a regular basis. It does not have to be perfect. Just get it out of your head and onto paper or into a document.

1

Record it and assign it to someone else

Once you have your process documented, record yourself doing it. A simple screen recording or a quick video call works perfectly. This gives whoever takes over that task a visual reference they can follow step by step. Then hand it off. You should not be the one doing everything.

3 1

Let others train others

This is where real scale happens. Once someone else knows your process, let them train the next person. Now your knowledge is multiplying without you being involved in every handoff. This is exactly how we built BlitzMetrics.

2 2

The bottom line

When you follow these three steps, you stop working in your business and start working on your business. That is the difference between being a busy operator and being an actual business owner. Document it, delegate it, and let your team take it from there.
