Creating an audiogram via Descript means producing a short video clip that combines an audio excerpt from a podcast or interview with a visual waveform animation, captions, and branded graphics. Audiograms turn audio-only content into shareable social media videos that attract viewers who would never click play on a podcast link. In the Content Factory, audiogram creation is a Process stage task that repurposes podcast content for visual platforms.
Audiograms solve a fundamental distribution problem: audio content is invisible on visual-first platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. An audiogram with animated waveforms, captions, and a speaker photo gives audio content a visual identity that stops the scroll. Descript makes this easy because the transcript is already mapped to the audio—you just select the best 30-60 second clip, apply a template, and export. This guide covers selecting clips, applying templates, and exporting audiograms for social media distribution.
Where Audiogram Creation Fits in the Content Factory
Audiograms belong to the Process stage and are closely related to podcast processing and one-minute video editing. They are created after the podcast has been audio-edited and transcribed. After creation, audiograms are cross-posted and boosted with Dollar-a-Day ads.

Prerequisites
You need access to the BlitzMetrics Descript account, a podcast or audio project with completed transcription, the client’s brand colors and logo for the template, a headshot photo of the speaker, and knowledge of the target platform dimensions (1080×1080 for Facebook/LinkedIn, 1080×1350 for Instagram feed, 1080×1920 for Stories/Reels).
Step-by-Step Process
Step 1: Select the Best Audio Clip
Read through the transcript and identify the most compelling 30-60 second segment. Look for a self-contained insight, a surprising statement, a clear how-to tip, or an emotional moment. The clip should make sense on its own without additional context.
Step 2: Create the Audiogram in Descript
Select the transcript segment you identified, then use Descript’s audiogram or video creation tools to build the visual. Add the speaker’s headshot, the animated waveform, captions from the transcript, and any branded elements like logos or color backgrounds. Apply a template if one exists for the client.
Step 3: Style and Size for the Target Platform
Set the video dimensions for the destination platform. Customize colors to match the brand. Ensure captions are large enough to read on mobile. Position elements so the waveform, photo, and text all have clear visual hierarchy. The speaker’s name and title should be visible throughout the clip.
Step 4: Export and Distribute
Export the audiogram as an MP4 video file. Create versions for each target platform if dimensions differ. Hand off to the person handling cross-posting or upload directly to each platform with the prepared copy.
Verification Checklist
The selected audio clip is compelling and self-contained. Captions are accurate and readable on mobile. The waveform animation is synchronized with the audio. Brand colors, logo, and speaker photo are included. The video dimensions match the target platform. The audio is clean with no background noise. The total duration is between 30 and 60 seconds.
